There is an additional fencing allownace of up to €350 per hectare for Conifers and €450 per hectare for Broadleaves. The allowable grant rates per linear metre for fencing are *Stock €3.50 *Stock/Sheep €4.50 * Stock/Rabbit €5.50.
| For Deer fencing there is an allowance of up to 150 metres per hectare at €6.50 for upgrades and €12 per metre for new fencing. All fencing claims will be subject to an overalll cap of €50,000 per plantation.

These are fixed rates for afforestation, FEPS and Native Woodland Establishment.
In most cases, the grants available can be expected to cover the costs.
Grant approval must be obtained before any work commences.
Higher Grants are paid to encourage the planting of Broadleaves, there are higher costs associated with these species.

Minimum Areas:
- Conifers 1.0 ha (2.47 acres) - Broadleaves 0.1 ha. (0.25 acres).

Stocking Levels :
Conifers - Total stocking level of 2,500 plants/ha.Broadleaf - other than Oak/Beech - Stocking level of 3,300 plants/ha.
Oak - Stocking levels of 6,600 plants/ha if planted pure, or 4,600 plants/ha. in a 75% mixture with European larch or Scots pine.
Beech - Stocking levels of 6,600 plants/ha if planted pure.or 5,300 plants/ha. in an 80% mixture with European larch or Scots pine.
